World Rally Championship returns for 2017

Written by: Neil

The FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) has returned this month and it promises to herald another year of amazing racing!

Everyone here in the Petrol News office is fully pumped up for the season ahead, with plenty of thrills and excitement expected in the months to come.

Sebastien Ogier will be returning in 2017 as the defending champion and he hopes to take his Volkswagen Motorsport team to a fifth consecutive drivers' and constructors' championship.

The competition will be fierce though, and we're banking on some stunning performances from the likes of last year's runner-up Thierry Neuville and third-placed finisher Andreas Mikkelsen to push Ogier all the way again this year.

Opening the 2017 championship race is the Rallye Monte Carlo, which is taking place this weekend.

Already the hype is getting too much for us, as the combatants begin their battle around some of the finest racing circuits on the planet. We can't wait to see how this exciting year develops!

Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, adds: "WRC 2017 promises to be another great year for motorsport and all lovers of the discipline can follow the season as it dramatically unfolds, right here on Petrol News."
