The Volvo XC60 has been turning heads ever since it was first launched, and it has clearly caught the imagination of expert judges as well as the drivers who have acquired one.
It has taken top prize as the best car of the year at the UK Car of the Year Awards 2018 – and few will be surprised. Indeed, the same panel of 27 motor journalists that conferred the overall prize on it this time voted it the best medium crossover a month ago.
Editor and managing director of the UK Car of the Year Awards John Challen said: "The XC60 being crowned UK Car of the Year 2018 is very well deserved, at a time when crossovers are becoming increasingly popular.
"Having been runner-up in 2016 with the XC90, it's fantastic to see Volvo now claim the top spot with its smaller – but every bit as impressive – stablemate."
Clearly it's a car the leading petrol-heads love, but not everyone agrees. Mail Online readers, for instance, only voted the XC60 their fifth favourite. Instead, they favoured the snazzy Kia V6 Stinger for its twin-turbo engine.
Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and it may be that with a new XC60 costing £36,000, it's not the kind of car a Mail reader would usually drive.
Ultimately, it is hard to look past the XC60 for a range of reasons. For one, it is the safest car out there, with Euro NCAP revealing last year that it did rather better when driven into a concrete wall than any other vehicle.
With its semi-autonomous pilot assist system to help with long journeys and easy handling, this car is simply great fun to drive. Its interior is fabulous and the entertainment systems are excellent. Put simply, it is a worthy winner.
Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, comments: “Volvo has really surpassed itself with the XC60. These two awards in a month are proof that this is a seriously good car.”
