Volkswagen has some truly stunning models in its range. Our favourite VWs tend have the letters GTI tacked on the back but another new model looks like it could soon be added to that list.
The Arteon will join the VW range from September as the brand’s stylish flagship model and everything we’ve heard about it so far promises great things.
VW describes the five-door five-seater as an avant-garde gran turismo with svelte fastback styling that combines sports car detailing with luxury motoring in a muscular yet elegant design.
Buyers will be able to choose from a trio of two-litre engines from launch: a 276bhp petrol and two diesels with 148bhp and 236bhp. It’s the latter of the three that piques our interest with its ability to race from 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds.
Sounds fantastic and just like any flagship model, it’ll deliver in terms of luxury with plush Nappa leather upholstery, three-zone electronic air conditioning, a head-up display, panoramic roof, front massaging seats, heated steering wheel and alloy wheels up to 20 inches.
It doesn’t scrimp on tech either, coming with a 12.3-inch active info display, the latest Discover Navigation system with eight-inch colour touchscreen, an eight-speaker sound system, and Bluetooth audio with telephone connectivity. Also chucked in there is the Volkswagen Media Control, which allows remote control of the infotainment system via a compatible smartphone or tablet device.
The Arteon is available to order now with prices will start from £34,305, reaching up to £39,955. The first models will be delivered to customers some time in September.
Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, comments: “Whatever you do, don’t call the Arteon ‘Passat Plus’. This flagship VW looks like it could give any high-end Audi cruiser a run for its money.”
