Verstappen wows the crowds in Spain

Written by: Neil

What a day it was to be a Max Verstappen fan at the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday (May 15th), with the talented 18-year-old not just becoming the youngest ever podium finisher in F1, he was the youngest ever race winner as well!

It was a day of excitement up and down the grid, as a first lap crash saw championship frontrunner Nico Rosberg collected by his teammate Lewis Hamilton heading into the fourth corner.

The crash brought out an early safety car, but it also paved the way for one of the most unlikely debuts of all time for newly-appointed Red Bull driver Max.

Despite fierce competition for first place from Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen throughout, the young Dutchman drove a faultless race to keep his Red Bull at the head of the chasing pack and secure maximum points for himself and his team.

We knew it already, but now a star has truly been born in the form of Max Verstappen. Watch out F1, there's a new kid on the block and we can't wait to see his progression in the races and seasons to come!

It might be an unlikely outcome this year, but the future's bright for Verstappen, and who knows, if the battle at Mercedes boils over again like it did in Spain, then more victories could yet be on the cards for this young and talented driver in 2016.
