SUVs are selling like 10p icepops on a scorching south-coast beach right now, so souped-up performance spin-offs are always going to attract the attention of the Petrol News office.
It’s the first time these two SUVs will have been seen in public in the UK and looking at the numbers, anyone heading to the grounds of the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex for the 25th FoS should make the efforts to check these out on their respective stands.
Louder than most volcanoes
With 542bhp to play with, the F-Pace SVR can dart to 60mph from rest in 4.1 seconds. Jaguar let its Special Vehicle Operations division have its wicked way with the standard F-Pace and the end-result is a more aggressive looking model with an uprated chassis, improved aerodynamics and an exhaust boomier than most volcanoes (probably).
On paper, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio is even quicker, with its 503bhp 2.9-litre V6 engine hurling the car to 62mph in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 176mph.
With pace like that, it’s no surprise that the Stelvio Quadrifoglio is the fastest SUV to complete a lap of the 20.832km-Nordschleife circuit, clocking a record time of seven minutes and 51.7 seconds.
You’ll be able to see both SUVs blast up Goodwood’s famous 1.16-mile hillclimb when the FoS opens with 600+ spectacular vehicles on July 12th.
Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, comments: “Goodwood is like Glastonbury for petrolheads so needless to say, we were already hyped. But our excitement has climbed even more with the news that these two super-fast SUVs will be there.”
