The latest round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) took place at the weekend (April 17th), with victories at the renowned Donington Park race track for Mat Jackson, Rob Collard and Matt Neal.
Making it six different winners from six races so far this year, the 2016 BTCC is now really hotting up – and that’s something we love to see, here in the Petrol News office!
Following the latest three rounds of action that took place at Donington on Sunday, the championship remains tight, with Neal leading his Halfords Yuasa Racing teammate Gordon Shedden by just five points in the standings.
It was a thrilling day’s racing that the expectant crowds were treated to at the weekend, with excitement and action in every outing.
The opener of the day saw Jackson jump up from third at the start to lead heading into the first corner, holding his nerve when those around him seemed to be losing theirs.
In race two, Collard drove faultlessly to edge out race-one winner Jackson heading into the final corner to claim victory; while in the final race of the day, three-times BTCC champion Neal capitalised on the benefits of running a harder compound tyre to slice through the field on his way to victory.
The next round of the BTCC will be taking place at Thruxton on May 7th and 8th, and while we don’t know about you, we’ll definitely be tuning in!
