Gordon Shedden joined an elite group of driving legends this weekend, as he became the first driver in eight years to secure back-to-back titles in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).
It was two glorious days on Saturday and Sunday for the Edinburgh-born racer, when he rallied from seventh on the grid in the first race to finish fifth and battled his way up from fifth to secure a podium in race two that meant he came away as this year's BTCC victor.
The result means Shedden has claimed his third BTCC crown in all and his second in the last two years – moving ahead of closest rival Sam Tordoff by just two points to win in 2016.
All the team here in the Petrol News office would like to offer our congratulations to a deserved winner, as well as offer our thanks to all the racers in this year's BTCC, who have given us countless hours of excitement and joy over recent months.
However, our attention now turns to 2017 and the race for the top title once more. Here's hoping for another great season when the BTCC action returns!
