It was all-change at the top of the Formula 1 drivers' championship on Sunday (September 18th), as Nico Rosberg moved ahead once more in the fight to be crowned this year's champion at the Singapore Grand Prix.
It was an exciting race from start to finish, with a first lap collision for Nico Hulkenberg that threatened to take out several drivers as the action got underway. The marshals responded well though, and following an early safety car, the action began to really heat up!
Expectations that the Red Bull team would prove a close rival to the Mercedes of Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton proved well-founded come race day, with Daniel Ricciardo in particular a force to be reckoned with.
Starting from second on the grid and finishing in the same position, a late charge from the Australian served to keep Rosberg on his toes right until the chequered flag, with a final gap between the two of less than 0.5 seconds.
With fresher tyres, Ricciardo may well have overtaken the Mercedes of Rosberg had he another lap in which to continue his push, but all credit has to go to the German, who drove faultlessly throughout to claim a third victory in succession.
Now moving eight points ahead of his teammate and rival Hamilton (who finished third), the stage is set for a barnstormer of a climax to the season in what has been one of the closest battles in Formula 1 for years!
