Nico Rosberg celebrated a hat-trick of race wins for the first time in his Formula 1 career at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday (November 29th).
Bringing to a close a thrill-packed season that ultimately saw victory in the drivers' championship for his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton, Rosberg drove a faultless race at the weekend to complete an impressive milestone of his own.
With victories in the last three races of the year, Rosberg has come to the fore as the standout performer on the grid of the last few weeks, albeit at a time when the championship was already wrapped up by Hamilton.
Now looking forward to a winter of testing before the start of the new Formula 1 calendar for 2016 in March, the first race of the new year will take place in Australia and it promises to be another great season of wheel-to-wheel action that fans are sure to love.
That said, several major developments still need to be resolved before the start of the new year; not least of which is the future of Red Bull Racing given their ongoing issues over engine suppliers that mean the team are not yet guaranteed to be taking part in 2016.
All in all, the 2015 Formula 1 calendar delivered some exciting ups and downs that kept the fans coming back for more, but when it comes to breaking the monopoly that has become the dominance of Mercedes-Benz during the last two years, many now hope the likes of Ferrari, Williams and (dare we say it) McLaren are closer to the pace of the Silver Arrows when the new season rolls around.
