If we asked you to name the most satisfying new car of the past year or so, what would you pick?
Something sporty with a mega power output? An all-conquering SUV? How about the Peugeot 3008? You might laugh but that’s the model that has topped the UK’s biggest new car satisfaction survey.
More than 80,000 consumers were quizzed on 31 areas as part of Auto Express’ annual Driver Power survey and out of 75 models, the 3008 was rated the most satisfying.
It didn’t just win though, it achieved the highest satisfaction rating in the survey’s 16 years with 93.88 per cent – this smashed last year’s record of 93.42 per cent set by the Skoda Superb.
Steve Fowler, editor-in-chief at Auto Express, said the 3008 SUV provided exactly what owners want these days.
“It’s got the SUV style that’s in huge demand, but backs it up with a high-quality interior, plenty of space, a great drive and excellent reliability – it’s no surprise owners love it so much,” he commented.
The top-ten list looked like this:
- Peugeot 3008 – 93.88%
- Kia Niro – 93.07%
- Alfa Romeo Giulia – 93.06%
- Toyota Prius – 93.04%
- Lexus RX – 92.99%
- Lexus NX – 92.90%
- Kia Sorento – 92.85%
- Toyota Verso – 92.83%
- Honda Civic – 92.50%
- Skoda Octavia – 92.45%
Overall, we’re more satisfied than ever by our new cars with an average score of 90.94 per cent, bettering 2017’s all-time high of 89.93 per cent.
However, this came in contrast with the fact that we’re experienced more faults and problems with our new cars than ever before, with 14.36 per cent of those polled reporting an issue, compared to 12.15 per cent in 2017.
Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, comments: “Half of the models in that list hail from Japan, which supports the reliable reputation of Japanese cars, while Kia will be pleased to secure two slots in the list.”
