Mercedes’ C-Class is one of the most universal cars in the world; company car drivers love it, families love it and of course, petrolheads like us love it.
The eternally popular C-Class simply appeals to everyone and the addition of refreshed coupe and convertible versions has heightened that appeal yet again.
Merc has just confirmed pricing for these latest variants, with the entry-level C 200 AMG Line coupe starting from £37,620, while the C 200 AMG Line cabriolet will set you back at least £41,439.
As with the standard saloon and estate C-Class, the coupe and cabriolet are now available with an optional 12.3-inch digital cockpit display, lending the interior an even more modern and luxurious feel.
Engines from the rest of the C-Class range have found their way under the bonnet of the coupe and cabriolet too, continuing the model’s sporty edge.
The C 200 uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine with either rear-wheel or, for the coupé only, 4Matic all-wheel-drive, which produces 182bhp and 280Nm of torque.
There’s also the two-litre diesel engine C 220 d and two-litre petrol C300, but it’s the AMG C 43 4Matic we’re most interested in.
Exploiting a three-litre biturbo V6 petrol engine with 384bhp and 520 Nm can sprint from zero to 62mph in just 4.7 seconds (4.8 in the drop-top), with an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.
All models come linked to a 9G-Tronic Plus nine-speed automatic transmission as standard, while the cabriolet’s multi-layer soft-top can be specced in a choice of four colours: black, dark blue, brown and red.
Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, comments: “Britain is in love with the C-Class. It frequently appears in the monthly top-ten best-sellers – one of few truly premium models to do so – and the introduction of these new variants will only fuel interest.”
