Overhaul confirmed for Outlander PHEV

Written by: Neil

The UK's best-selling plug-in hybrid has undergone a revamp, and it's got us all excited here in the Petrol News office.

With more than 26,000 sales in 2016, the Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) has gone from strength to strength since its launch in 2014, but with rising competition in the low-emissions sector, the marque has taken the step of refreshing its designs.

Now, the latest iteration of the Outlander PHEV brings a range of additional benefits for buyers, with the manufacturer quick to point out that the new model is also greener, with lower emissions, than its predecessor.

Offering a new EV Priority mode across all variants, the 2016 PHEV allows the driver to operate the vehicle without ever starting the engine, using only the battery charge to travel in a full-electric fashion for up to 33 miles.

Meanwhile, other features that the whole Petrol News office is happy to hear about include a rugged new chassis design, improved regenerative braking for even greater efficiency, new colour options and an improvement in drive battery output of ten per cent.

All in all, we're convinced the updated Outlander PHEV will be a tough act to beat in the low-emissions market this year!

Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, adds: "It doesn't always have to be hyper this and super that to get the blood pumping here in the Petrol News office. Sometimes it can be something as simple as a car that appeals to our love for the environment that sets our pulses racing."
