Ogier claims victory in Monte Carlo

Written by: Neil

Sebastien Ogier secured victory in the opening round of this year's FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) in Monte Carlo.

The whole of the Petrol News office has been looking forward to the return of this top discipline in motorsport, and the opening stages of 2017 proved to be well worth the wait!

Reigning champion Ogier began his title defence in style this weekend, with victory over his rivals in an impressive time of two minutes and 15 seconds on the demanding Monte Carlo circuit.

This latest result marks his fifth victory at this testing track during what has been a stunning career to date. It means Ogier gets off to a great start in defending his championship, but the season still has a long way to go!

Indeed, this year's combatants will be back in action at Rally Sweden, which will be taking place from February 9th to 12th and will be a true test of the drivers' skills in freezing and icy conditions.

Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, adds: "It's great to see some of the world's best racers back in action in the WRC. Bring on the next round in Sweden and let's see who's the best in the ice and snow. We can't wait!"
