Nissan knocks our socks off in Rio

Written by: Neil

Set to be unveiled in Rio de Janeiro later this month, there's a new prototype model from Nissan that will surely take your breath away.

The BladeGlider is a revolution in sports car design and combines zero-emission driving with high performance to really blow away the competition. Indeed, here in the Petrol News office, the BladeGlider has become something of a legend in recent days, with its stunning and original good looks winning over every single one of us.

Utilising a full-electric powertrain and thereby completely eliminating any carbon emissions, the BladeGlider is an extension of the technologies that have become so popular in the manufacturer's other green vehicles, including the pioneering Leaf.

It marks a step forward in the green performance car sector though, with the BladeGlider capable of accelerating from zero to 62 mph in under five seconds – we can't see many Leaf drivers being able to do that!

Carlos Ghosn, president and chief executive officer for Nissan Motor Company, said: "These prototypes epitomise Nissan's drive to expand its Intelligent Mobility strategy, where driving pleasure combines with environmental responsibility."

It's a premise we also passionately believe in here at Petrol News; so as long as the pioneers at Nissan (and their competitors) keep pumping out great sustainable new models, we'll keep reporting on them! Stay tuned for more hot new vehicle news in the coming weeks.
