The Audi RS 5 Coupé was one of our stand-out reveals from the Geneva Motor Show in March, and the Petrol News office is abuzz yet again following the release of further details on the BMW M4 rival.
We already knew the RS 5 Coupé would be lighter and faster than its predecessor, with a 60kg reduction – now weighing 1,655kg – and a 3.9-second 0-62mph sprint.
But now, it has been revealed that prices for the souped-up A5 fastback will start from £62,900 on-the-road, ahead of deliveries in the summer.
Under the bonnet is a new 2.9-litre TFSI V6 petrol engine with 443bhp and 600Nm of torque, available from 1,900-5,000rpm.
After rollocking its way up to 62mph in under four seconds, it’ll keep picking up speed until it hits 155mph. However, that’s not the end of the story because buyers can choose to elevate their RS 5 Coupé’s top speed to 174mph with the addition of the optional dynamic package.
This increased aggression is reflected in the styling with a black honeycomb grille, flanked by two large angular air vents, and riding on new five-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels as standard (20-inch wheels are also available). At the back, there are signature oval tailpipes, a new rear diffuser and a small bootlid lip spoiler.
Beneath the skin, there’s RS sport suspension with dynamic ride control, RS exhaust system and dynamic steering as well as state-of-the-art driver assistance, safety and connectivity systems.
The new RS 5 Coupé will be available to order before the end of May with customer deliveries from the summer.
Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, adds: “The RS 5 Coupé may have dropped two cylinders but it promises to be a much more potent beast than before.”
