Matt Neal continued to build a strong case for victory in this year's Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), with a third win this season at Knockhill last weekend.
We love some Touring Car racing here in the Petrol News office, with the high-octane chase truly testing the mental edge and skills of the drivers on what are some of the most gruelling and unforgiving circuits across the country.
It is therefore with great pleasure that we report the race for this year's Touring Car crown is really hotting up, with Neal and compatriot Gordon Sheddon battling it out to be top dog in 2016.
Holding on to a slender lead at the head of the standings, Neal was a cut above his rivals at Knockhill – something he'll be hoping to continue as the season progresses in his bid to become a four-time BTCC holder.
Meanwhile, lady luck was never on the side of Sheddon throughout the latest race weekend, with a large amount of ballast on board proving too heavy a burden for the reigning BTCC champion to overcome.
It all makes for an intriguing battle between the pair though and one that everyone here in the Petrol News office believes will go down to the wire in determining who this year's Touring Car champion will be.
The season moves on to Rockingham this coming Bank Holiday weekend – we can't wait!
