Mercedes-Benz plays superheroes with DC’s Justice League

What does Batman drive when he’s not behind the wheel of the Batmobile? A Mercedes-Benz. Don’t believe us, watch the new Justice League film when it comes to cinemas this November.

This season’s mega-budget comic book silver screen adventure features everyone’s favourite billionaire vigilante in his regular Bruce Wayne guise driving a Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo.

The film also features Diana Prince (aka Wonder Woman) piloting a super-slick E-Class Cabriolet, and the G-Class 4×42 makes an appearance too.

Why? It’s all part of a multi-million partnership between Mercedes-Benz and Warner Bros Pictures.

This type of product placement happens in virtually every major Hollywood film and some films do it better than others.

Some make perfect sense, like Iron Man’s Tony Stark driving an Audi R8 or James Bond in an Aston Martin DBS during Casino Royale.

Then some are downright dumb, such as the S.H.I.E.L.D government agency running a fleet of Acura (that’s American for Honda) soft-roaders in Thor and Avengers Assemble.

Dr. Jens Thiemer, Vice President Marketing Mercedes-Benz Cars said the E-Class Cabriolet was “a natural fit for Wonder Woman” and Gordon Wagener, Daimler’s chief design officer, admitted that Hollywood regularly influences Merc’s product range.

He explained: “As a designer, you have to create fantasy, so we often get inspired by the film industry. I am excited that this time, the film industry was inspired by us and our Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo became the car for a super hero.”

Justice League hits UK cinemas from November 17th, starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane) and Henry Cavill (Superman).

Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, commented: “If you asked us what brand of car Bruce Wayne would drive, Mercedes-Benz would be one of the first names to spring to mind. Not all product placement works but this one seems a perfect fit.”
