Merc’s new X-Class pick-up truck will go all-out later this year when a new range-topping model with a new powerful three-litre V6 all-wheel drive engine goes on sale later this year.
Using the Nissan Navara as a starting point, Mercedes-Benz cranked up the style and luxury to come up with the X-Class – arguably the most premium option in the ever-appealing pick-up market.
So even though the model has only been on the market for a few months, the high-end German car maker will go one further with the X 350 d 4MATIC.
With 254bhp and up to 500Nm of torque, the new flagship X-Class will be able to sprint from zero to 62mph in 7.9 seconds, while its permanent all-wheel drive guarantees a high level of driving stability and dynamism in a wide range of conditions especially wet and wintry roads.
Those motorists who have been left stranded by the ‘Beast from the East’ would certainly appreciate a vehicle with that kind of ability right now.
The X 350 d 4MATIC uses a seven-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel shift paddles and start/stop.
As for other gadgets and goodies, the peak X-Class will come equipped as standard with a simulated chrome-plated underride guard in the front bumper, a chrome-plated rear bumper, 18-inch six-spoke light-alloy wheels, LED high performance headlamps and artico man-made leather on the seats and upper section.
It’ll also have electrically adjustable seats, a swanky infotainment system, keyless-go and two-zone air conditioning.
Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, comments: “The X-Class had already elevated the bar for posh pick-ups but this new range-topping will go one step further when it hits European showrooms from mid-2018.”
