McLaren has developed a very pleasing knack for serving up super-special design themes for its magnificent models, and that’s exactly what it’s done yet again, this time with the 720S.
You may remember the 720S Pacific and 720S Track themes from when they were revealed in Geneva in March, but if not, we’re about to tell you all about them again because they’re available now.
Developed by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), the Track theme is painted in ‘anniversary white’ and unashamedly inspired by the championship-winning McLaren Formula 1 cars of the 80s.
The exterior features hand-painted detailing on the bonnet, doors, rear quarter panels and airbrake in carbon black and tarroco orange – McLaren’s Formula 1 colour from 2017.
Inside, the cabin is trimmed in jet black alcantara with orange contrast stitching, while a titanium harness bar – typically half the weight of its steel counterpart – is installed and can be fitted with a six-point harness for track use. Finally, all exterior and interior carbon fibre components have a satin finish, saving weight and reinforcing the authentic sporting intent.
Meanwhile, the 720S Pacific theme – [pictured] also the work of MSO – delves into the blue of the world’s largest and deepest ocean for its inspiration with its cerulean blue paint job. Door intakes are finished in a darker estoril blue, with cobalt blue-tinted carbon appearing on the roof, front splitter, air intakes, mirror casings, rear diffuser, rear deck and rear bumper and engine cover.
Ansar Ali, managing director of McLaren Special Operations, said: “The 720S is an exceptional car in every respect in standard form but there is always the potential to make it even more special with additional, individual, creative input, which is where McLaren Special Operations comes in.
“We were overwhelmed by the reaction to the 720S Velocity at its unveiling and to bring to life two more versions of the MSO 720S Themes portfolio further demonstrates that MSO can fulfil any request to ensure that a car perfectly meets a customer’s vision.”
Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, comments: “Anyone in the market for a McLaren must surely be tempted to make their new toy extra special by letting MSO go wild on it.”
