Magnificent Spa to host return of Formula 1

Written by: Neil

The Formula 1 freight train returns this weekend with the iconic Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium set to welcome the spectacle that is the best drivers in the world vying for what is arguably the most prestigious title in motorsport.

Here in the Petrol News office, we can't wait for the action to resume after a three-week hiatus that's seemed like an eternity!

Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg are set to renew their rivalry for the championship lead in what promises to be an action-packed and exciting race from start to finish – it always is in Belgium!

One of the favourite tracks of the year for many drivers, Spa is also a real treat for the spectators, with many areas of the circuit open to the fans.

The season so far has been something of a topsy-turvy affair, with Hamilton having reeled in his German teammate from a commanding headstart to build a lead of his own in recent races.

Now entering crunch time and the second half of the season, Hamilton is expected to have to contend with numerous grid penalties following the poor reliability of his car earlier in the year – a development that could open the door for a resurgent Rosberg in the races ahead.

It therefore promises to be a fantastic run-in to this year's championship, and it all starts in Belgium this weekend!
