Joy for Aston Martin at 24 Hours of Le Mans

Written by: Neil

It's been another great year for British marques in one of the most illustrious races on the motorsport calendar, with Aston Martin securing victory in the GTE Pro class of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2017.

Held last weekend (June 17th and 18th), the event is a highlight of the year for lovers of motorsport, and the team here in the Petrol News office are overjoyed with the result.

Now in its 85th year, Le Mans continues to shock and surprise us, with endurance and feats of driving excellence, coupled with a nail-biting denouement that was just one of the highlights from this year's race.

Aston Martin's team of Darren Turner, Jonny Adam and Daniel Serra snatched a thrilling victory in their #97 V8 Vantage GTE, overtaking the #63 Corvette team of Antonio Garcia, Jordan Taylor and Jan Magnussen on the penultimate lap.

After the race, Adam stated: "It was really cool to get him just before the finish line and to see fans in the grandstands and the team on the pit wall celebrating, and it was then just time to bring it home."

It was yet another year when the race went down to the wire, but to see the sterling performance of Aston Martin was a real sight to behold. Indeed, the team signed off in spectacular style, breaking all existing GTE race and qualifying lap records during the week.

Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, adds: "Le Mans never disappoints for excitement and drama, and this year really was no exception!"
