The London Motor Show has made great strides in putting Britain on the global car show map once again in recent years and this year’s event promises to continue that progress.
In the past week, car makers have been revealing which models they’ll be bringing along to this summer’s show and one development that pleased many here in the Petrol News office is confirmation that Hyundai’s award-winning i30N will be in attendance.
Joined by the Kona compact SUV, Hyundai is confident that its first hot hatchback will turn ‘petrol heads’ when it takes pride of place on the brand’s dedicated stand during the four-day show at London’s ExCeL.
The powerful, agile and critically-acclaimed i30N arrived as the first entry under Hyundai’s N sub-brand – the brand’s new line of high performance road cars.
Under the bonnet is a two-litre turbocharged engine with a power output of 246bhp, which is boosted to 271bhp in the Performance version.
Torque vectoring by braking is standard, while the Performance variant features an electronic limited slip differential, larger brake discs and an active variable exhaust system.
The i30N comes packed with the latest active safety features, such as forward collision avoidance assist, lane keeping assist and a driver attention warning system to detect fatigued driving.
A spokesman for Hyundai said: “Our new entry into the hot hatch segment, which was developed at the Namyang R&D Centre in Korea and honed on the famous Nürburgring, has already created a lot of excitement amongst consumers.”
Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, added: “Hyundai can expect to attract the attention of its fair share of hyped petrol heads when it shows off the i30N at the London Motor Show.”
The London Motor Show 2018 will take place between May 17th-20th.
