Hyundai’s i30 N Line delivers show without the go from September

Written by: Neil

We’re big fans of Hyundai’s new hot hatch – the i30 N – in the Petrol News office so it was great to hear that there’s a tamer offshoot variant in the pipeline.

Named i30 N Line, the model features some of the performance exterior styling of the full-fat i30 N, such as the front and rear bumpers, spiced up with N Line specific silver lower accents and N Line badging on the front wings.

Completing the look is a twin exhaust, LED rear lamps and 18-inch fastback design alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot PS4 tyres.

Inside, there are sports seats and the leather steering wheel from the i30 N and N Line gear lever, as well as a decent amount of connectivity equipment like an eight-inch touchscreen, smart device integration and a DAB supporting Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

There’s also the same high level of standard safety equipment you’ll find in all i30s, such as a lane departure warning system, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking and hill start assist control.

Prices will begin at £21,255 when it goes on sale this September. The entry model uses a 1.4-litre T-GDi 140PS engine, linked to a six-speed manual, and comes with cloth sports seats, black headlining and chrome effect exterior door handles, air-con, automatic dimming rear view mirror and privacy glass as standard specification.

For £23,255, you could have the i30 N Line +, which builds on the N Line trim level by throwing in heated leather and suede sports seats with electrical adjustment, heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, LED headlamps, automatic rain sensing windscreen wipers and an eight-inch touchscreen sat-nav.

Tony Whitehorn, president of Hyundai Motor UK, said: “The i30 N has had a tremendous reception from both automotive media and our customers since its launch early this year but we understand many customers ‘want the show but don’t need the go.’

“N Line will give customers that balance of looks and performance.”

Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, added: “Much like Ford’s ST Line variants, the N Line injects some tasty sporting styling.”
