Hamilton keeps title hopes alive!

Written by: Neil

Lewis Hamilton was able to keep his hopes of a third consecutive Formula 1 Drivers' Championship title alive for another week following what was an exciting Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday.

The Brit needed to win to stop his Mercedes teammate and rival Nico Rosberg from claiming his first drivers' crown with a race to spare – and win he did, with a stunning drive from pole to claim his 52nd career Grand Prix victory and move to a clear second on the all-time winners list.

It was a thrilling battle from start to finish, with no fewer than five safety car periods throughout the race. Heavy rain and changeable conditions meant there were cars skidding, aquaplaning and going off the circuit from the outset.

All this action did little to faze Hamilton though, as he kept his cool while all around him were losing theirs. Rosberg also drove well though, and despite a final push from the Red Bull of Max Verstappen, he too kept his championship hopes alive with a second-place finish.

It now means all the championship action will culminate in Abu Dhabi at the final race of the season – and what a race that promises to be!

Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, adds: "Few would bet against Nico Rosberg winning this year's title with a 12-point lead heading into the final race. But stranger things have happened over the years and we can't wait to see just who will emerge victorious after what's been another amazing season of F1 action."
