Great looks and performance from the GT R

Written by: Neil

Look at us, we're getting all excited again over a new supercar, but can you really blame us after you've seen the latest images of the new Mercedes-AMG GT R?

It's one hell of a good-looking vehicle and the boffins at Mercedes have done all they can to make this model one of the most technologically-advanced cars from the German manufacturer to date.

So, forgive us if we're a little excited, but here in the Petrol News office we're betting the new GT R will go down a treat with the motoring masses in the coming years.

Developed on the demanding "green hell" of the German Nurburgring racetrack, the new GT R features a four-litre V8 twin-turbocharged direct engine injection that delivers 700 Nm of torque and powers the GT R to an impressive top speed of 318 km/hour (kph).

Able to accelerate from zero to 100 kph in 3.6 seconds as a result and with combined emissions of just 259 g/km of CO2, the model is not only a delight for lovers of speed, but it has genuinely impressive green credentials to boot.

We love the look, the power and sustainability of the new GT R. It's the complete package in terms of a top-quality car for all petrolheads, so bear with us when we say this is one of our favourite new releases of the year so far!
