Ford GT the fastest ever at Calabogie

Written by: Neil

The latest iteration of the Ford GT has done something truly special and has become the marque's fastest ever model to complete a lap of the iconic Calabogie Motorsports Park in Canada.

Delivering an exceptional top speed of 216 mph, it is perhaps unsurprising that the new Ford GT should be breaking some impressive records, but that said, everyone in the Petrol News office is gobsmacked by the announcement.

It means the Ford GT (2:09.8) has overtaken the likes of the McLaren 675LT (2:10.88) and Ferrari 458 Speciale (2:12.9) on the Calabogie all-time fastest lap leaderboard and it is great news for all lovers of this amazing model revamp.

Indeed, the Ford GT has undergone a dramatic redesign in 2017 and the impact of some significant weight loss and a sharpening of performance is now apparent for all to see.

The Ford GT really is an iconic supercar and, as such, we can't wait to see what other records this fantastic car can topple in the months to come now that it's been given a new lease of life.

Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, adds: "Ford have truly outdone themselves with the new GT. It is a stunning vehicle that ticks all the boxes for supreme performance, looks and all-round driver appeal!"
