The first sale at auction of the all-new Honda NSX Acura has raised a few eyebrows, with the coveted VIN #001 model achieving almost ten times its book estimate in the US.
It was purchased for a cool $1.2 million (£826,000) by Rick Hendrick, owner of the Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR team, at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2016 auction on Friday night (January 29th).
A renowned collector of first-edition performance cars, Mr Hendrick will add this very special NSX to his museum collection in Charlotte, North Carolina. Meanwhile, all proceeds from the charity auction will go to support a range of local children's charities.
Featuring an all-new 573 bhp tri-motor electric hybrid power system, a twin-turbo V6 engine with nine-speed DCT transmission and a host of other cutting-edge technologies, the new NSX Acura has been developed by Honda to be a "human-centred supercar".
It is set to have a guide price on-the-road of £111,000 when launched in the UK later this year and has been built to provide the ultimate driving experience, with "intuitive and immediate" responsiveness for all those that get behind the wheel.
