Nico Rosberg secured a welcome victory in Mexico this weekend to put behind him the heartache of giving up a late lead that saw teammate Lewis Hamilton retain the Formula 1 driver's crown in Texas late last month.
With a faultless drive from start to finish, Rosberg was able to build upon a superb pole position and never looked in danger of giving up the victory at any point in the Mexican Grand Prix.
His cool composure came in contrast to the final stages of the race in Austin, Texas, where the Mercedes driver gave up the lead towards the end of the race when an unforced error – later put down to an unexpected gust of wind across the track – forced him to go wide and allowed Hamilton to pass.
Now, with just two races left in the Formula 1 season for 2015, all attention turns to Brazil, where Mercedes-Benz will once again hope to top the leaderboard and secure a one-two victory, just as they did in Mexico.
The rest of the field continue to make improvements – none moreso than Ferrari – but the Silver Arrows have once again highlighted their dominance with this latest emphatic success.
Indeed, it is a situation that appears unlikely to change for the foreseeable future, but the likes of Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Raikkonen and Daniel Ricciardo (among others) would surely like to create an upset before the season is out.
