The Cupra Ateca is almost upon us. It’ll be the first model from SEAT’s performance division since it became a standalone brand and it’s available to order now after price and spec were confirmed.
This cranked-up SUV will set you back at least £35,900 on the road, and for that, you get a fair bit of kit.
Standard spec includes a flurry of slick and aggressive styling, such as exclusive 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, black brake callipers, glossy black exterior details, a sporty rear bumper and no less than four exhaust pipes.
Inside, you’ll find an eight-inch touchscreen navigation system, a wireless charger, leather sports steering wheel and black alcantara seats with copper stitching, as well as alcantara door panels.
The pedals are finished in aluminium, while the climate control air vent frames and the central console get a gloss black finish.
Under the bonnet is a two-litre petrol engine with 295bhp and 400NM of torque, linked to a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox. With all-wheel-drive, the Ateca can race up to 60mph in 5.2 seconds before going on to a top speed of 153mph.
Buyers can choose from six exterior body colours: energy blue, velvet red, brilliant silver, rodium grey, magic black and Nevada white.
There’s also a small number of options buyers can bolt onto their Ateca too. The comfort and sound pack adds a BeatsAudio sound system and advanced driving assistance, while the design pack bumps the alloy wheels up to 20 inches and chucks in Brembo brakes, a panoramic roof and a tow bar.
While the Cupra brand will stand alone from SEAT, you’ll still have to go to a SEAT dealership to get one.
Jess Wort, marketing manager at Petrol News, comments: “This angry Ateca seems like an outstanding debut for the brand and we’re excited to see what comes next for Cupra.”
