Audi has completed a stunning weekend of racing in the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Held at the world famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium last weekend, the teams of the WEC were in fine fettle and form, with Audi coming out on top despite some fierce competition from the team’s rivals.
With glorious sunshine baking the track, the drivers fought hard to find the best lines on what was a difficult day’s racing. However, all of the teams managed to keep their heads (in the most part), with the Audi trio of Lucas di Grassi, Loic Duval and Oliver Jarvis claiming the chequered flag.
Victory at what is one of the most demanding circuits on the WEC calendar is no mean feat for the marque. Indeed, head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich said after the event: “Today, the drivers, the team and the technology had to show real endurance qualities.”
Here in the Petrol News office, our attention now turns to the next round of Formula 1 racing in Spain, which takes place this coming weekend and could see Nico Rosberg take a stranglehold on the championship and build on his clean sweep of victories so far this season.
However, the WEC will soon be back in our minds come round three, when the world famous Le Mans 24 Hour Race will be held. It is sure to be a true test of endurance for all involved and is set to take place on June 5th.
