Images of Audi’s forthcoming Q8 have finally emerged online along with the first batch of information on the new coupe-SUV.
Essentially the dip-back version of the Q7, this latest Audi SUV will take on the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE when it goes on sale this summer, priced at around £65,000.
Size-wise, the Q8 stretches for 4,986mm – 66mm less than the Q7 – but it is 27mm wider at 1,995mm with a height of 1,705mm, making it 35mm lower than its sister car.
With the rear seats flipped down, you get up to 1,755 litres of boot space – a drop-off of 200 litres on the Q7 due to the coupe roofline.
Under the bonnet is a 282bhp three-litre V6 diesel, capable of ramping up to 62mph in 6.3 seconds with a top speed of 144mph.
That’ll be the only engine choice from launch, but in 2019, we’ll get a 335bhp V6 petrol 55 TFSI will arrive, along with a 228bhp V6 45 TDI.
The Q8 will be available in 12 colours, including – presumably – the striking gold shade seen in the reveal shots.
In terms of spec, every Q8 will come with all-wheel-drive, LED headlights, as well as Audi’s top-of-the-line infotainment system: MMI navigation plus, which includes the Audi connect data transfer module and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
S line models include HD Matrix LED lights, 21-inch alloy wheels and adaptive air suspension sport as standard, while high-end Vorsprung editions – available shortly after launch – get Valcona leather, dynamic all-wheel steering, 22-inch alloy wheels, head-up display and a full leather package.
Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, comments: “Here comes yet another Audi SUV and you can bet your bonce it’ll sell like hot cakes.”
