Everyone in the Petrol News office is getting giddy over the upcoming London Motor Show, and excitement levels have been cranked up another notch after learning that Alpina will reveal a new car at the event.
BMW-based vehicle performance tuners Alpina will launch the new B4 S Bi-Turbo during the show at Battersea Power Station, which opens between May 4th-7th.
Using the BMW 4 Series as a starting point, the luxury four-seater turns everything up to 11 in terms of performance, style, comfort and efficiency to deliver the world’s fastest diesel production car.
The introduction of two new Alpina-specific turbochargers and an uprated cooling system means that power climbs from 410bhp in the standard 4 Series to 434bhp, while torque leaps from 600Nm to 660Nm, pushing top speed to 190mph and snipping its 0-60mph sprint to just four seconds.
Alpina GB general manager Gary Lott said: “Our customers value the finely honed feel of a bespoke car and the easily accessible performance that comes with substantial torque.
“An Alpina is often described as ‘the best performance car for the real world’, and that’s something we are very proud of and looking forward to sharing with guests.”
Prices start from £58,950 for the coupe bodystyle or £62,950 for the convertible.
Stephen Hasley, brand manager at Petrol News, adds: “The London Motor Show was a huge success last year and if it continues to secure world premieres like this, the UK will soon have an international car event to rivals the likes of Paris and Detroit.”
