All fired up for night racing in Singapore

Written by: Neil

The Singapore Grand Prix is almost upon us and it promises to be one of the best races on the Formula 1 calendar, with the drivers battling it out under the glaring lights of the Marina Bay street circuit.

One of our favourite races of the year, everyone in the Petrol News office can't wait for the action to get underway, as the battle for top spot in the drivers' championship has now tightened to just two points.

Elsewhere, the testing circuit of the season's only night-time Grand Prix always throws up plenty of excitement for the expectant crowds, so be ready for thrills and spills at a race that always delivers the goods.

Mercedes are expected to remain strong at Singapore, but the high-downforce winding street circuit is also extremely well-suited to the Red Bulls of Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen. This could therefore be one of the few races of the year when a front-row lockout for the Silver Arrows is anything but assured.

With the battle for first place expected to be fierce, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg will not want to let the Red Bulls get in their way, as the pair slug it out in what has become one of the closest and most tightly-contested championship fights of recent years.

Come the chequered flag on Sunday, one driver will stand victorious – we don't yet know who that will be, but here in the Petrol News office we can't wait to find out!
