A need for speed epitomises Shelsley Walsh

Written by: Neil

The speed freaks are set to be out in force this weekend at the Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb and, here in the Petrol News office, we wholeheartedly approve.

Gearing up for another great weekend of high octane fun, this annual event is one that captures the imagination of car lovers up and down the country, with the Midlands venue playing host to thousands of eager spectators in the coming days.

Competitors in some of the most powerful cars on the planet will be battling it out to set the fastest time up the 1,000-yard course, which achieves a daunting gradient of 1 in 6.24 in places.

We fully appreciate the impressive nature of this event and the fact that everything from F1-inspired kit cars to the most expensive high-end sportscars are all welcome to take their turn in tackling the course.

Taking place on April 30th/May 1st, two classes of events will be seen across the weekend, with a classic race offering thrills for vintage car lovers, as well as more than 20 entrants in this year’s 1,100cc motorcycle-engined single-seater racing class.

It promises to be a great few days of vertical racing – and that’s not something you get to see every weekend!
